Building an Argentinian parrilla bbq in Brisbane
Building an Argentinian parrilla bbq in Brisbane
g'day all,
just finishing building my wood fired (or charcoal) Argentinian style parrilla (bbq) in the backyard, based on the style that is in every backyard in Argentina. But I also added an oven above the fire box area. The wife is Argentinian - i brought back the grill materials in luggage last trip. i love the asados whenever we are over there, so hopefully i can recreate that here.
Off to buy a few bags of gidgee charcoal tomorrow, and also have a few cut up trees and hardwood offcuts to use if i choose the wood method. Not sure which fuel is better/easier but plan to experiment.
Pics soon when i work out how from an iphone?
Now just need to find a decent butcher that does some cuts a bit different to the norm here!
cheers,
harro

still have to lay the stone veneer over the besser blocks, then it will be 100% ready, but i'll be testing her out this weekend anyway...

Great job there.
I've had a look for parillos and/or parts locally without luck. I'll have to go on a holiday to Argentina I think

How did you support that first course of blocks above the fire box?
They dont line up with the side course. How did you get a lintle in there?

If trees screamed when we cut them down, We wouldn't. If they screamed all the time we would.

Some snaps from last Sunday's BBQ. Best so far. Happy with the special cuts the butcher did for me.
Re: Building an Argentinian parrilla bbq in Brisbane
Hmmm the money shot seems to be unfairly cropped... Try this:
In regards to block work, the only lintel is that of the besser block at head height. The oven box I just made up of firebrick slabs that rest on the other firebricks (on right) and fire tiles on left. Hope u know what I mean???

What a weapon! Belongs in some glossy home design / lifestyle magazine, if not already. The BBQed looks good too... CS
