Turkey wings in a ginger beer glaze, stuffed potatoes. Tasted great. Only problem i gave the Akorn a 10min hugh heat blast to clean glaze up. Then 35 min latter was whats burning, the temp gage was clocked out at 700F. Smoke pouring out. Hope the gasket is ok

Re: Turkey wings
What are the turkey wings like....were the moist and easy to eat?
I'e often found turkey to be a bit tough due to its lean of fat.
Photo looks good though...will give em a try.

Re: Turkey wings
Turkey wings are good eating. They are so large you only need a couple for a meal.
Like Titch said, the Akorn gaskets are tough. At around 700F the top vent gasket can get soft and leak air as it takes the brunt of the heat coming out of the top. I replaced mine with some left over Kamado Nomex gasket. Easy job and seals the top vent well.

Gasket looks good, 700F plus, heat cleaned both grills and stone. Looks new

Re: Turkey wings
How do you keep the akorn so clean mines is no where close to yours
Re: Turkey wings
When you get to 700f all the crap goes to powder and you just have to brush it off.
It's a good way to clean the Akorn up.
You just have to remember to re-season the cast iron grate so they don't rust.
Re: Turkey wings
I did try that but maybe not long enough will give it another go cheers
