meat supplier melbourne

Post by antiquesman »

We purchased some meat from the Australian meat company on the weekend for the first time and were suitably impressed.
They are at 15 Hossck st Coburg North tel 9354 8961
We bought lamb, chicken and pork for a gyro spit.
I phoned the order through on the Friday and it was marinaded and boxed up ready for collection first thing Saturday morning.
Prices:
Lamb $11.50 p/kg
Chicken $8.00 p/kg
Pork $11.50 P/Kg
These prices are very reasonable (we used to pay $14 per kg for lamb at the South Melb market. Quality was excellent.

cheers and beers

I'm pretty sure it is shoulder that they use for the lamb and possibly the same for the pork. I may call them to find out for interests sake.

Do many of you shop at the Victoria Markets? What do you think of the quality of the meat there?
I shop at the Footscray Markets for a lot of my meat and Seafood, It is very good Quality and about 20 - 30% cheaper. Atalntic Salmon is $17 - 18 per Kg for fillets. Thick cut Rump steak is $10 a kg and is great quality. Pork neck (Scotch/Butt) is $9 a Kg, Standing Rib Roast is 12 a Kg.
They are all Asian butchers so the quality is very good especially the pork.

Tuesday to Saturday. Go early and park across the road in the car park on the corner
Its about $1.00 and hour
I generally go there between 8 and 9 am.
There is a great Asian Grocery store across the road from it.

I buy a lot of spices from there and my asian pastes/sauces. I also buy my Chinese red pork marinade powder there.
If you want anything just ask the staff they are very friendly and are happy to serve you.

I should add that you need cash for the market and the grocery store.
Cheers
