Gyros and Meat Specialist!!! Steve and Sons Butcher

Post by Mallee Ant »

If you’re looking for the best meat/gyros you have to go to "Steve and Sons Butcher"! They are the Gyros specialist!

I drive from Montmorency to East Bentleigh for my meat because it's the best. The gyros is tender as and their meat just melts in your mouth.

Go see Stav or Anthony and let them know Antony sent you and you will be looked after.

I am a mad BBQ person who loves my meat and charcoal cooking and this butcher's meat will make every meal memorable.

There address is

767 Centre Road
East Bentleigh 3165
95795039

Bought some lamb and chicken gyros meat at Steve's today. Lamb seemed to be around $15/kg and the chicken 12-13.
Freshly carved from a hung sheepy whilst i waited, and marinated on the spot.

Ring in advance if you don't want to wait.

I plan to spit roast this in a couple of days, and will report back

I went there about three weeks ago and he was doing 2tonnes of lamb for souvlaki!

It was during GP weekend and he said they were flat out. Lamb looked good but unfortunately for me I bought a whole porterhouse for a special occasion which I trimmed and cut into 2" steaks.
They were rubbish, no marbling and even with careful cooking they were very ordinary. No taste and a bit tough.

Should have known better when he reached for the pre-packed cryo-vaced bag.

$80 blown. Steve did say satisfaction or your money back but I feel bad about asking for it from a small business. I don't need the money back just a good supplier of quality meat.

I am posting this so members are aware that his lamb looked great and perhaps that's where he specialises. The beef is pre-cut elsewhere, so he will have little control over the quality, hang time etc.

I mentioned the BBQ forum and he seemed to know what I was on about. He also has spits for hire and will marinate and pre--load the lamb on for souvlaki on your own rod or his! That's a great service.
