I'm looking at buying a fishing boat around 14/15 foot.
Can anyone recommend a good Aussie Forum please.
I am a member of Ausfish, but are there others.

Titch, seeing that you live in Victoria, have you seen this forum?
http://www.fishing-victoria.com/
looks like it covers just about everything including boating.
My favourite boat for fishing is definitely Quintrex....easy to handle if you're by yourself...just slide it on some sand or grass...won't hurt it....all Alloy boats ride a bit rough in some chop compared to fibreglass but they are less chance of getting damaged.
Good luck

Thank you
By feeling rougher, did you mean underway or drifting?

Would be both I would think, being so much lighter they bob around more. We had a 16.5 ft Savage many years ago, great little Port Phillip boat.

Yeah in a aluminium boat you'll feel the chop more but they are very stable...most have decent high sides ....love going outside to chase snapper
Got 5 snapper within 15 minutes once about 3 mile out on a reef North of Coffs harbour....biggest one was just under 4 kilo
We waited 2 and a half hours on a northward drift and within a 15 minute time frame they got hungry....then after 5 fish in 15 minutes...there was nothing....so home we went.....kinda makes up for the other 6 hours without fish we spent out there sometimes.

It's not all aluminium and fiberglass.
Have a look at a plastic one. I've got a 4.1m polycraft and absolutely love it. Rides better than a tinney and weighs less than glass. The finish on a poly doesnt make them oil paintings but they take a beating without any damage.
The 4.5m sounds like its in your range, i've been in one a couple of times and they ride pretty well.
As for forums I'm a fan of the Fishraider site but it is pretty Sydneycentric.
