Lobster Tails

Post by dino veritas »

Hi All

Local Coles had frozen lobster tails, 2 tails, 320 gms , $20 including garlic butter. $62.50 /kg. From “imported and local ingredients”. See pic.

Never cooked lobster, only eaten it once or twice, thought I’d give it a go.

Box had recipe for grilling and pan fry, checked the internet, including this blog for BBQ, still confused. These are small lobsters and internet cooking times varied quite a bit, 5 to 20 mins. It would be easy to overcook. Many said split lobster in half, which must effect cooking time. Went with Margaret Fulton.

I split them and aimed for 1 min on flesh side, baste, 4 mins on shell. Weber gas BBQ.

Side dish, boiled asparagus with butter, pepper and Parmigano. Hunter Semillon naturally.

Tasted good, nice smokey flavour? Probably a bit unevenly cooked, the splitting wasn’t exact and I suspect that should have evened out the flesh and shell side times a bit.

A qualified success?

They sure are, I don't know why they turned out like that. They are regulation size , 250 kB or less.

Sorry, I don't know what to do about it.

G'day Dino,
Try and edit your pictures by length and width sizes, rather than byte size. Your pictures are showing as being small in byte size, but the length and width are huge, making the pictures too big to fit in and pixelated.
Good luck with it,
Steve.

Yes Dino, you need to resize your pics in your pic editor....try about half of what you have now...I had a quick look in editing and they are good pics when you posted the links but they are too oversized.

They were showing 4608x 3465, they need to be a 1/4 of this size...you're pixels are too spread out.

Cheers

I have found it easy to use Scissors to cut the hard shell and keep the tail in one piece.
Acts like a vessel and stops the Tail from drying out.
