Pellet Smokers in Sydney ?

Post by CANS MCGAVIN »

Hey BBQ Legends,

Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions where I can my first pellet smoker in Sydney or Newcastle ?

My budget would be up to about $1500 bucks if I absolutely had no other choice (maybe there is a clever and reliable cheaper option ?)

Love the Rec Tecs and Trager Lil Tex Elite..........(pretty keen for the electronic set and forget temperature control).

Appreciate the help guys !

New one coming out in Sydney soon....Louisiana Grills , so hang 5 till they come out.
Traeger lil tex might be in your budget.
GMG Daniel Boone might be in your budget too.
Or if you like portability, GMG Davy Crocket.under a grand.

To my knowledge, theres no pellet grills for sale here in Newcastle.

Cheers

Before you even think of a Pellet grill, read the Amazon reviews about them.
Forget the Hype you read here. research.
Louisiana grills are not overly liked in the States from what I read.seems they have rust problems
Like I said research

+1 for GMG. So easy to use, and very well priced, with excellent backup.
Weber Kettle Fanatic....
Main go-to: Blue 57cm OTG
Fire restriction option: Black 57cm M/T butchered with a Weber gas conversion.
GMG DC for the lazy smoky cooks.
Weeknight special: Q200
Problem? What problem?

I agree with the research. But I owned a Louisiana Grill Country Smoker WholeHog from 2008 to 2013. Like any pellet grill, with time, paint and powder coat will wear, and if left un attended will show signs of rust (does it effect the way the unit cooks...No)...but with minimal upkeep, they are as good a finish as all most all others. I certainly would not throw them under the bus.

And their controllers are so much more sophisticated then they were in 2008...simply night and day. But as stated, do your research. I am a GMG guy, I have 2, but I guarantee if you buy a LG or Country Smoker...you will be pleased with it!

My GMG DB was $1300. Get them to price match and then get some accessories
