...beautiful brown one.
I need to find replacement wooden handles and will give her a touch up and a bit of love but I'm pretty happy
That's 2 rigs in one day!

Thanks a lot Hogsy, looks the goods. The step by step restoration advice on that site is invaluable, I cleaned it up a bit today and the enamelling on it is impeccable, they really are built to last.Hogsy wrote:Great score!! I love the old chocolate coloured kettles

Re: Just picked up a 1983 Weber 57
No pics yet, been busy working the Hark.
But I saw a bargain OTG on Gummy that I had to buy
So I'm up to 4 kettles and a Hark
A far cry from some of you legends!!! Though Mrs Hamish is not best pleased

Re: Just picked up a 1983 Weber 57
You can do what I have done - start leaving Kettles at friends/rellos places when you've been asked to cook something there. The In-laws have had 2 of mine since Christmas, the bro-in-law another one, and some good friends have yet another. I gave one away about 12 months back too, and have cooked on it 3-4 times since....
So the missus only thinks I have 3 now
It's much easier to carry the roti ring & accessories in the boot than the entire kettle!
And the best part - it's encouraging others to get into (in some cases, back into) charcoal cooking.
