Bic Briquettes

I noticed them in my local IGA today...., couldn't see a price though

Only quick google I could find was campbells had them, $5.99 but a bag of 3 in a case of 4.
So I guess you have to buy 12?
Will keep searching when I get time.

4KG of heatbeads is around $9.50 at safeway.

Also saw safeway branded briqqutes at $4.50 for 4KG. I couldnt tear a bag open to have a look at the size of them but they felt the same size as heat beads.

16 KG is $20 at Bunnings, much better value. I tried those home branded heat beads, seemed OK but lots of ash and dust. I couldn't say whether they are better then the Heat Beads brand or not.

The Woolies/Safeway ones (my cheapskate dad buys them) are OK.

The Coles ones (the ones I bought cos I'm a cheapskate) were absolutely terrible. Toxic smoke but they refused to light. Just awful. Nicer packaging than the Woolies.

Kmart ones were just smelly, smoky, small and horrible the time I used them. They'd want to be free before I take any home ever again.

I've not seen these Bic beads as yet but a mate of mine in NZ is raving about them as being very, very uniform in size, easy to light and apparently made from coconut. He's also remarked that the packaging is robust so he can leave it under the veranda and not have to worry about it getting wet and falling to pieces - that I can relate to with original beads

I think when I see them I will give them a go, Bic don't stick their name on things lightly

It's just more and more of an indication of a bbq trend though, surely ?

Bic make so much money out of pens that they do get the luxury of sitting back and looking at what markets to expand into. I'd guess their lighter market might be on the way down but it would have been hugely profitable for them for a long time, guess they think fire is a good bet

Yeah, I'll try the Bic ones for the same reason, but not the Coles or Woolies knock offs ever again.....been there...done that!

Bit of an update and info if anyone who was interested.
Two pics that show the front, price and some of the blurb on the back. Picking the bag up, it felt like a lot of dust in the bottom, but it may have been the packaging.
