Low-No Carb Recipies
Low-No Carb Recipies
Hi All,
I've been advised to start a low carb diet, and my initial response was : More food on the kamado!
But so far I have been only cooking some basic roast chicken and some lamp shoulder.
I don't eat beef and very limited pork, would like to get some recipes from you experience ed cook on some delicacies in the chicken and the lamb department.

Planked salmon, other fish, roasted veggies, basically anything goes as long as you remove the potatoes, rice, pasta, bread etc. I think you'll find most recipes here are pretty low in carbs , abit not in calories

Ask the doc how many carbs per day ,including sugars you can have.
Then get rid of all stodge like potatoes, etc and sub your sugars with natural sweets like fruit , honey and palm sugar in small quantitys or a quality meal. The rest of the day you eat rabbit food.

Salmon fillets baked on oak planks. Super easy and very flavourful. Soak planks in water, put on BBQ at 200C, oil and spice fillets with lemon pepper, bake for about 20mins. Gives a subtle smoke flavour to the fish.

I'm a Diabetic so I have to watch the sugars, which are basically carbohydrates by another name.Smokey Mick wrote:Ask the doc how many carbs per day ,including sugars you can have.

Watch the fruit intake, it's full of Fructose which is fruit sugar. The highest sugar content is in tropical fruit including bananas.
Don't have more than 2 pieces of fruit a day, small servings of tropical fruit, and keep the banana intake to a minimum.

Thanks all for the guidance, bananas - didn't know they were that bad. I ate one yesterday need to stop it now.
As for the Salmon Fillet recipe, thanks it looks very interesting. One question though - where can I find an oak plank.

Also watch your Fat/oil intake, they both break down to carbohydrate/sugar. That's one of the reasons BBQ is usually a healthy way of cooking, done on a grill a lot of the fat runs out.

Re: Low-No Carb Recipies
I'm sorry but that is completely wrong, there are 3 types of macro groups (4 if you include pure alcohol)Bill44 wrote:Also watch your Fat/oil intake, they both break down to carbohydrate/sugar. 1. Fat
2. Protein
3. Carbs (including simple sugars)
Natural fats/oils do NOT break down to carbs or sugars
Re: Low-No Carb Recipies
And where might I ask did you obtain your medical degree? It was only this morning that I was taking advice regarding the breakdown of fats and oils from my Vascular Surgeon Specialist. I will take his advice rather than yours thank you.ozlegacy wrote:I'm sorry but that is completely wrong, there are 3 types of macro groups (4 if you include pure alcohol)Bill44 wrote:Also watch your Fat/oil intake, they both break down to carbohydrate/sugar.
