3x 2.5kg pork shoulders in the pro Q

Post by melvin » Wed Sep 16, 2015 5:41 pm

Hi Guys

This weekend I will be doing pulled pork and planning on have 3 2.5kg shoulders in the pro Q.

How is this going to affect the cook at 250f? Will it take longer as I've read to expect 1 hour cook time per pound?
I did smoke a similar size on its own and took roughly 5 hours but seeing as there will be 3 is there going to be a difference in cook time?

Thanks in advance!

Not much difference, it might take a lil longer to get back up to temp once you put the meat on. But thats about it.

Never think about Time per Weight for low and slow, it just does not work like that. In fact, Time per Weight doesn't work for anything!

This is very true. I guess for the newbies, they just need a bit of a nudge to get them off on the right foot!
Questions like this often come up, as most people are brought up cooking to time.
After a couple of cooks it all becomes clear!
