Just wondering what people would recommend as the best cut for a pulled pork?

Definitely pork shoulder for me mate :D

Prepped "Boston Butt" style - all small bones removed, large shoulder blade bone in, skin & fat removed also

16 hour cook at 225F / 107C + resting for me

Best Cut For Pulled Pork

I tend to use pork neck mostly - aka pork scotch fillet. You can get it anywhere - even in supermarkets (better prices at a local / bulk butcher though).

Beauty of it is that it comes ready to go. No need to have to explain to your butcher how you need the Boston butt done or trimming and removing fat yourself.

Just spoke with the local butcher (in Sth East Melbourne) and asked if he had pork shoulder and could cut it Boston butt style. He asked around the store, no one had any idea what i was talking about.

Most butchers won't know that cut as it's American. Even the ones that claim to know still stuff it up, so now I just stick to pork scotch fillet (whole roast, no skin) or a standard shoulder (skin removed).

Just ask for skin off, bone in shoulder.

I'll post it for the umpteenth time, ask for a 'Shoulder Blade Roast' or just a plain 'Blade Roast'.

The "Best" pulled pork?
The pigs head hands down.
If you can't cope with slow smoking a pigs head , the jowls are a less spooky option and what I do due to the family opting out if they spot a pig head on the kitchen bench
Seriously good eating . Ten times better then collar butt

Smokey! I've been meaning to do this with a pigs head for ages! Swmbo doesn't want anything to do with if (pigs her favorite animal, not in the eating sense). Boys night it is. Ever since I saw it in Pitt Cue Co.
