How to stop juice flameup

Once again , G'day and first post:)..Want to know if there is a way to stop Cicken flaring up over charcoal on a rotiserri..Would it be that the chook is to cloase to the charcoal ?? or maybe should let the charcoal die down a tad??.

Push the charcoal away from directly under the chook...only have a few bits under for effect!

Juice flameup is good! It helps develop the flavour! The only thing you don't want is too much flameup, because it can leave soot deposits or worse still, burn the chicken. But as Chris says - push the coals away.

i found a flat round pan that looks like a pizza pan but it had a bunch of holes in it. i place it over my coals to act as a diffuser and it works great. if you can't find one just drill some 1/4-1/2" holes in a pizza pan.
