When I first heard Steve Raichlen talk about this recipe on the radio about 15 years ago, I thought WOW I have to give that a go, so the next day I did. It was a hit then and still is today. Flavour and moisture are excellent!!
The top of the bird looks a little black in these pics because the rub was a little to close to the weber lid, but it didn't impact on flavour, which was excellent.

Kamado folks have the same issue doing these. Try a bit of aluminum foil shaped like half a footy to use on top of the bird when it starts getting overdone. Raichlen has done quite a helpful book on beer can if you need new things to try. CS
