and the results:

didn't get all that much out of those chillies, probably only about a 3 years supply of flakes (LOL)....

FMS, what flavour - HOT HOT HOT, with a fairly potent habenero pepper type flavour. almost finishes very bitter/peppery/dry in the mouth, but seriously hot.

I am not joking about that being 3 years supply. these flakes are incredibly hot and will be used very sparingly. and i do like some spice..... my tree seems to be producing so many chillies at the moment. when i picked those 15 or so chillies, there were already another 10 or so full sized 'green' chillies waiting to ripen....

Those chilli flakes look the goods :D
Golden orbs of chilli goodness

Maybe tone the heat down by smoking and flaking some less hot chillies to make a different flavour?
That way you get to use them up a little faster?

Just a thought, was thinking maybe habaneros or padding it out with capsicums as a flavour enhancement.
By bulking it up, it also makes it harder to overspice when adding the chilli flakes.

Nice stuff fellas.

I've got a few plants coming up for drying soon.
Today I'll pick about a dozen Goatsweed's and reduce them down in a bit of water.
Then I'll add the reduced mixture to my sauce bottle at work so whoever is pinching the sauce better like hot stuff. Otherwise they'll have to go crying to the nurse or OHS person or whatever.

You won't believe this.
I planted the seeds of the chillies you sent me beermee and . . . . . nothing.
Also gave some to a green finger gardener I know and . . . . . she grew several.

Nothing unbelieveable about that right?

I grew several other types of chillies in my garden and so recently I replanted some seedlings that had struck.

Then they fruited. . . .
They look suspiciously like the chillies you gave me.
All the other varieties were not shaped like these.
So two years later I have fatalii or maybe ghost chillies.
Thanks again :D :D

I'd post a photo but the damn computer is telling me the board quota has been reached.

Look at the sticky at the top of the Welcome section for how to post pics. You can't post pics directly to the forum.

Yeah well Ghost is something ridiculous on the scale - I like heat but not gargling ignited napalm :)

Useless recently learned fact:

Birds can eat the super hot chilies because they don't have the pain receptors to be affected but chillies sort of prey on that and attract birds to have a nibble and excrete their seeds somewhere else in some nice rich guano - so chili plants are not stoopid - does that mean you can get an IQ boost eating hot food ? :)

(TBH from numerous visits to Mexico and surrounding areas, probably not :) )

I use a dehydrator, although not this year, weird weather profile killed every single one of my plants :)

Also, it's the white placenta that is the hot bit, not the seeds as most people think. Scraping out the seeds also removes the placenta, so job done!

Have to blend and powder these tomorrow.
Red ones are unknown superhot hybrids. They seem hotter than my ghost (bhut jolokia/naga jolokia) chillies.
Yellow are hot lemon. They're pretty mild with a citrus taste. This powder goes great on fish and chicken :)
