Pappy's Moonshine Maddness

Post by Brazilnut »

Pappy's Moonshine Madness Hot Barbecue Sauce with Kentucky Bourbon - 12.7 oz This is my all time favourite HOT BBQ sauce. Its got awesome flavor and a nice kick. It has a sweet BBQ base flavor which is followed up by the tastes of whiskey and finally a very nice peppery spice that sticks around but does not burn. ( tabasco is mild to me ) It used to get it at Christmas time in Target but I'm unable to get it in Aussie now.
U.S supplies are cheap but postage is a real killer. If anyone knows a supply please post a reply and details.
Great food, Good friends can't get any better.

http://chilemojo.com.au/kentucky-bourbonq.html
but there out of stock at the moment.
Postage is reasonable, mark up is ok( I imagine with the weakening AUD it the price will go up on the next shipment.

How hard would it be to make your own version?
Basically a trad BBQ sauce tweaked with a bit of chilli and bourbon
Do your measuring and calcs so you can repeat it when you hit the right formula.
You might find you come up with a way better one that is uniquely yours.

Ive got plenty of chillies
Plenty of home made chilli sauce too.

One variety I grow is the Chiltepin
This pepper is also the state native pepper of Texas.
Some chile enthusiasts argue that the Tepin is hotter than the habanero or Red Savina habañero pepper.
Tepins can be extremely hot, measuring between 100,000 and 250,000 Scoville Units.
In Mexico, the heat of the Chiltepine is called arrebatado ("rapid” or “violent”), which implies that although the heat is intense, it diminishes quickly

Mexicans have little wooden grinders on their tables for this chilli to add some to your dish

I would almost bet money that is in the mix
As a big quick hit without the lingering heat that makes you never want to have it again.
