Zach's rubs
Zach's rubs
Hi Guys,
Just wondered if any of you had tried either the Zach's Hickory or Sweet rubs?
They sell both here in Perth in David Jones but before shelling out for them I wanted to know if they were any good.
I usually use magic dust on my brisket but fancy a change this weekend, any preference on the sweet or hickory for beef?

Re: Zach's rubs
There OK, Certainly not terrible.
They are on the spicey side but most US stuff is.
You'll need to put the bags in zip lock as I've had a few go hard in Tupperware

Re: Zach's rubs
The first time I had it was approximately 30 years ago. At the time I thought that if I licked the bottom of a car say near the oil sump, it would probably taste better. At first I thought someone was playing an April fools joke on me, then I realised it was November and this thing was used as a food for real. I've never dared taste it since.urbangriller wrote:Yeah, but who doesn't like Vegemite?

I bought a jar last week after you posted about the vegemite brisket because I don't appreciate not liking stuff that others eat with so much gusto. I figure that was 30 years ago and hopefully my taste buds have grown and adjusted.
Re: Zach's rubs
I work with many guys from all parts of the world, Vegemite comes up quite a bit. The advice I give them is it's all about spreading it thin, we aren't talking about jam here start off light and most simply love it! From Americans to Hungarians, Chinese, Malaysians, Thais even Poms (And we know they whinge about everything) Start with some buttered toast and work out how thin works for you, you might be surprised

Spreading vegemite thin is very good advice, it is also great to put on the toast before making 'cheese on toast' and goes well with peanut butter
Re: Zach's rubs
I can't remember exactly what happened, but I may have piled it on like nutella.
Re: Zach's rubs
piling it on like nutella is not a good option!
i love vegemite but you definitely can't be too liberal with it
