Can alternative sweeteners be of help in BBQ's?
Re: Can alternative sweeteners be of help in BBQ's?
I'll use turbinado sugar and agave nectar in my sauces from time to time, and in non bbq recipes when possible.
Cheers!

Stevia is good as a natural alternative to sugar....don't need much though!

Lactose is a good additive for brewing, because it won't ferment out. I wonder how it would go in a BBQ recipe...

There is a lot of who-ha about HFCS in the states but I figure a little isn't a problem considering you don't drink an entire bottle of sauce yourself.
Palm sugar is great stuff.

I've never seen the agave nectar here in Oz and haven't even heard of turbinator sugar

Why does it look like I started this topic? I was only replying to a thread. Strange...
Agave nectar is a thick fluid sweetener, like honey or syrup, coming from the same plant as tequila. Turbinado sugar is natural, unrefined sugar. The crystals still have the natural molasses in them, giving it a nice flavor, but not overpowering.

I should be punished promptly and severely. I need to be doomed to a weekend of bbq. On the menu, chicken thighs, ribs, and smoked scotch eggs. I need to be taught a lesson.
Cheers!

The proper punishment would be for you to cook all that BBQ, but only be allowed to eat raw vegetables, while others around you devour meat in copious quantities.

One of those cases where even though it was a spammer's post, the topic is valid.
