Lox / Cold smoked salmon

HI Folks

in pursuit of something new to try during winter iam considering making Lox or cold smoked salmon (same thing)

Has anyone else tried this previously?
Anything i should be very careful of when doing this? Initial concerns are botulism ofcourse and the need to use some pink salt
