Shawarma recipe request..

Post by traveller »

Hey all..

Anyone here have a recipe for Lamb (or chicken) Shawarma suitable for cooking on a horizontal spit? (Not the mince meat style like you find in a Doner kebab..)

Cheers.

I found this today when looking for a recipe for Shish taouk
http://www.mamaslebanesekitchen.com/pou ... pe-garlic/

It seems similar but the Shish taouk is on skewers and easier to do at home
heres the recipe for that Im going to marinate it today for tomorrow.

It was delicious
Wife loved it too, happy to make it a regular.

I didn't add the tomato paste , didn't have any
Dont think it mattered most other recipes for it didn't have it and the paprika made it a little reddish
Wife was saying lets have the marinade as a dip.(before the chook went in)

Like this? Simple, slice the raw meat some what thin...I just skewer meat in layers, sticking onions and peppers about every 3rd layer. Some times pineapple rings if I am feeling funky! Sure you already have a marinade, so wont go there!

I've tried this one from Gnol a few times and it's simply delishious.
Angryman 65 also swears by it.
I think what makes it special is that it does not have complicated rubs in it but rather takes its flavour from fresh ingreedients
