Sorry Dude. Never meant to stress you out

Thought it best to put the idea out there and possibly give you a chance to fix the problem (if it was going to be a problem) before it ruined your cook.

Shayne good call on the beer cans, on hind sight yeah food cans is what i thought at the time, but the pretty beer cans looked so good i forgot the toxicity of the paint.

on saying that.,...............damn what a good come back..................to use the charcoal trays as stands. and no doubt a better fit in the KETTLE.

might be...........i come to you for advice from now on......... :) :) 8)

even more love your work.

how's the cook going..??.. temps..........grill and tucker doing what you hoped them to do..??..

don't panic. from what i see you have got it under control

yeah,

good effort, if anything, you learned that the planning and placement of your BBQ is important.

and i suspect, that yes, the brave act of moving your WEBER KETTLE was the cause of the brake in the snake.

good luck with the pulled pork

hope it all goes well.

The paint has never been an issue when cooking beer can chickens. Has it?

dunno.

i have never had issues with it.............but, i think it might be that the chook is totally over the can..??.. and it doesn't get direct heat to it.

i have been using food cans for awhile, because the base is more stable and the birdies seem to sit better. but, you need decent size birds though....

You would think that if you don't actually burn the paint, it would be OK.

I use food cans as well....but only coz I don't have beer in cans.

Cheers

It's only a little bit of paint and not directly in the flame so it should handle a low and slow cook. Besides, It's a flavour and who wants to live until 140, I haven't got enough super :D :D

The cans were very hot when I took them out (I also filled them with water for extra weight), but was no signs of peeling paint! I do think there would be more toxins coming from the foil trays I buy from Cheap As Chips, 10 for $2!!!

Water in the cans has probably helped with temperature control also I suppose. Might give it a try, it's an excuse to drink a heap of cans anyway.
