Wife wants a cat,

Post by Smokey »

She reckons it would be good for my boy who is on the mild aspy spectrum. He is not violent and quite loving.
She can get a Pure breed Russian Blue at mates rates.

:)

I'm a total cat lover and Persians are beautiful.

Just resign yourself to cleaning up fur forever :)

When my kids were growing up we had four cats including a lovely Rex who was so doting and tolerant of the kids it was just unreal :)

So a cat, whatever type, definite yes ;)

Get a Burmese, they're more like a dog.

Thanks fellas, I'm not really a cat person myself but I'm sure my heart will melt for any animal,,, Pet or food
The one thing that the wife said that May make me say yes is that Russians don't shed like other cats. Kind of like the poodles of the cat world .
If there is fur it will be wife's problem, I live out in the garage

point.

if you get the Blue, teach it to be on a lead straight away,
these cats are very walkable and can go places that say, pets must be contained.
We had one member in our race team that use to come to all race meetings, problem was the magpies use to go nuts at the country tracks
Smart aloof cats, life span of over 18 years is expected

:)

I was having a blonde moment - Russian Blue even better than a Persian.

They don't shed, as much, and are very, very loving, also as Titch says one of the few cats that will take readily to a light lead.

Suggestion:

Get your son a copy of "The Book of the Cat," very likely to pick it up second hand. It's a great book that details most all of the breeds and has a lot of information on the care and feeding of cats, sort of a cat bible :)

I had a Blue many years ago who was quite elderly when she came to me, owner had died. A truly lovely cat, lived another five or six years and fitted in well with the Rex, the Burmese and the moggie we had at the time.

Overall I tend to like moggies the most, but all cats are good and if pushed I'd definitely say Burmese are the favorite. The one breed I would avoid is Ragdolls, my daughters had a pair. If there is a brain in their head they never revealed any of its activity and talk about shed!!! Four years after my daughters took them away when they left home we were still finding fur :)
