Dave's USA Trip 2013 Continued ......

Post by Grill Pro Australia »

Hi all, I thought I would post up some of the pics from my recent US trip. There are a few BBQ pics but mostly not.

Image
Never thought I would see one of these, someone robbing this bank only needs to drive it away...

Image
Bourbon St, New Orleans at night - quite possible the most fun place I have ever visited.

Image
Bourbon Street

Image
I couldn't resist taking a snap of this sign

Image
Live Jazz place in New Orleans

Image
Live Jazz every day

Image
Over many many years as people walked around this corner, their bodies have worn away the edge of the red bricks

Image
A Margarita / Daiquiri Drive through

Image
From mild alcohol to "Blow your head off" alcohol. Even the driver can order one & drive away drinking a "Blow your head off" Daiquiri .... this would NEVER EVER happen in Australia

Image
Corona bottles - BIG sized

Image
"Good Morning"

Image
V.O.W. Blues Festival in Louisiana , so much fun ( & awesome Barbecue )

Image
Apple Pie & Peach Moonshine

Image
Blues. Blues & more Blues - just fantastic. Musician "Tab Benoit" started this Blues Festival 10 years ago, we had a really good chat, lovely bloke.

Tab Benoit - great stuff

If Scandinavia can do it, Australia can do it

Image
Nashville - another place I fell in love with and the boots ...... oh the boots

Image

Image
Lucchese Boots are one of the Genuine brands left & still made in the US. Prices ranged from about $450 US to $8,000.00 US depending on the leather & detail, Snake, Crocodile, Hippo & American Aligator

Image
I loved these White American Aligator but at over $3,800 US, I left them for another day.

Image
These were cool too

Image

Image
and of course, both of us ended up with a pair of Lucchese Boots ( mine are on the left )

Image
I couldn't help but throw these in

Image

Image
No police escort, just driving down the highway

Image

Image

Image
Sun Studio in Memphis, this is where Elvis recorded his very first record as well as most of the US greats like Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison & Johnny Cash

Image
It was amazing to stand in the same small studio & gave me goose bumps

Image
Me chatting with Jeff Arnett the 7th Head Distiller at Jack Daniels

Image

Image
I picked up a bottle of this Limited Edition Jack Daniels Duty Free on the way into the US to drink with the guys

Image
I loved it, tasted great, ( v expensive though ) & only available at Duty Free Shops in Australia at this stage.

Image

Anyway, feel free to comment.

Cheers, Dave

Surely looks like you had a terrific trip there Dave. I'd love to see half that stuff in the flesh. Good to see you made the most of your trip too, not all BBQ. ( should i wash my mouth out?) :D

Below is the way they get away with it... They are down there and there are a few in Texas. American's dont put up with drunk drivers anymore...to much death, pain and suffering...folks just don't tolerate it anymore! I can guarantee you, cops don't look the other way or give a break like they did 30 or 40 years ago..(and coming from a guy that had 2 DUI's before he got sober, they shouldn't) if you buy one, start drinking it and get pulled over, your getting a ticket for open container...if you BAL is above legal limit, you are going to jail! If you are that stupid and carless, your Wanker *** deserves to be in Jail!

That's a great thing Bentley, I was a volunteer in the local Country Fire Service here for about 8 years & we had "Jaws Of Life" which we used to pull people from car crashes, so I have experienced a lot of drink drivers who caused serious injury & death.

:)

Great pics, I get over there every couple of years usually, although missed out since 2009.

I think I'm certified as the world's worst photographer quite apart from always forgetting I have a camera :)

The South is just so different from anywhere else, including the rest of America, I've friends in Tennessee and Texas whom I owe a visit to.

Unfortunately my work tends to take me more to the coasts, that's where most IT is - not all bad, love San Francisco :)

Thanks for the great pics, looks like you had a ball :)

Cheers
