Smoked Kranskys
I smoked some Kranskys for us & some friends last night. They made the best hotdogs.

Re: Smoked Kranskys
Absolutely love Kransky and Chorizo....grilled up is nice.
Thats a neat looking Offset smoker there Andysmoked, I see by your intro it's a home built reverse flow.....love the concept of reverse flow as they give a more even heat and smoke over the food.
Have been so bogged down with work and sick Parent for a while, haven't had time to do any BBQing lately and looks like with the weather coming this week....it ain't gonna happen soon

Re: Smoked Kranskys
Thanks Davo
Yeah mate it’s a home made smoker. I originally bought a cheapie from BCF, only to find out why they are cheap. I didn’t want to shell out the cash for an expensive one, so built my own out of scrap/recycled steel for about $450.

Re: Smoked Kranskys
Jeez that's a good bargain even if you had to do the work yourself....I wish I had that talent...I just blow holes in stuff with a welder
Yeah some of those smokers you see in Hardware and some BBQ stores and yeah...camping a fishing stores are pretty shit but I guess if it gets one into the art of smoking for them like yourself to either make their own or buy something much more suitable, then I guess those cheapos have done their job.
Cheers

Re: Smoked Kranskys
Never thought of smoking them. I always grill them. You have given me an idea. I hate it when I grill kranskys or chorizos for too long. Usually because I was sitting down talking and drinking beer or wine. Or both...

Re: Smoked Kranskys
Actually most sausages like Kransky and Chorizo are awesome smoked and extremely juicy. you just cook them at a lower temp, put some smoke wood on the fire and just let it smoke away around 105-130C indirect heat, no need to grill them.
Note: the Skins of any smoked sausage does tend to be a bit wrinkly and tough on the outside but once you bite into them....OMG....juice central, they are so delicious. Because you're not grilling them and the skin tends to tear itself open due to searing heat losing the juices, this way you get to keep the juices and flavour of the sausage.
Give it a go Mustud52

Re: Smoked Kranskys
Done deal. The girls are both out now shopping and have added that to their list. Down here at Inverloch we can go out with a little more freedom than in the Melb Metro leper zone...
Have you seen how there are some in the Melb Bayside council area who want to make charcoal bbqing illegal? One has to pause to think about whether the meaning of life is a fragile concept.

Re: Smoked Kranskys
It was to be expected, you got the Pollies trying to lock everyone down, then you got the BLM mob spreading said virus, then the Cancel everything group which I think these bloody Council morons must be members as they're doing this due to only 3 complaints per year and only 5 names on a petition......what else are they going to screw us with in this Countrymustud52 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 1:17 pm Done deal. Yep, Capeview Inverloch is good. Has grown over the last 5 years. I love the butcher in Inverloch. The best steaks in the area come from him. Just recently Inverloch Foodworks has upped its game. Other than that it is Wonthaggi. Korumburra for a haircut. A nice drive and an old fashioned ridgy didge barber.
