Ok - I completely maggoted a some pork ribs last weekend ... tried low and slow and was too hot from the start. Charred, crusty crud.
At least my 'standard' butterfly Portuguese chook turned out well and fed the family.
Tonight ... back to basics .... burgers and sausages - kids loved 'em.
Basic and perhaps hardly worth a post but hey... I am recovering from a disaster.
Cheers

It's good to see burgers and sausages done on the kettle.
A nice change from the seeing them done on the gasser.

Re: Simple Burgers on the Kettle
It happens to the best of us Powerdigit but you sprung back well.....and sometimes you've just gotta kickback and enjoy a burger or two...they look pretty delicious to me mate.
I've had my fair share of disasters trying to master the kettle when I didn't understand the concepts of live fire...usually due to the excessive intake of the amber fluid, many of my earlier parties ended up with the meat being just one colour...BLACK and my wife to be and some others who were there had to snatch the tongs out of my drunken hands
It wasn't my kettle either, I borrowed it from my neighbors as I didn't have a BBQ of any kind at that time and the learning thats around today just wasn't available back in the late 80's...before personal computers and internet.
So yeah....disasters and mistakes are a natural part of the learning process....and I've learnt to stay mostly sober till at least all the tucker has been taken off the grill
Jeez those were fun times but...we'd eat anything if we were hungry and drunk enough
Cheers

Ha! Thanks for the encouragement Davo - I would love to blame alcohol but alas... I was sober ... but I did get ahead of myself - trying to clean pavers with a Karcher - not tending the fire .... live and learn as you say.
