As a bewbi to the Weber Baby 'Q' today I did some store bought hamburger patties on the bbq from what I thought to be a quality brand, was more expensive, not a gr8 taste though
At 3 mins I lifted the lid to turn the patti but could feel it was still 'attached' to the grill plate, so dropped the lid for another minute, lifted again and with the tongs this time I could slide the patti sideways on the grill, it was now not stuck, it had grill marks when I turned it over and I set the timer for another 3 mins and dropped the lid.
When timer announced the removal time, I first turned off the gas at the bottle, then lifted the lid, the pati turned over easy so I left it for 30 seconds facing 90 degrees so grill marks would be opposite direction on each side.
As I say was a first time for a hamburger patti, and it tasted like it's not cooked inside, but looked well cooked from outside
They were thick, but not too excessive, maybe 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick, where the cheaper brands were heaps thinner like HJ's patties
Will look for RECIPES for beef patties and make the patties myself from now on, and will have to get the timing correct too
looks like it takes longer to cook 'decent' meat patties than a good Porterhouse steak

Can't be a pro straight up so it definitely takes practice.
What sort of temp did you have the bbq at before putting the patties on?
I personally like to get the grill nice and hot at about 200C then put my patties on and drop the heat to about 180C, drop the lid and leave until I see juices start coming up to the top.
I then flip.
Sometimes i cook them on the hotplate so that on the first flip and i add a slice or 2 of cheese and melt it over the pattie. best experience so far is having a little metal bowl that the pattie can sit under, put the cheese on the pattie, squeeze a little bit of water from a kids water bottle around the edge of the pattie then quickly put the metal bowl over the top. The steam created will melt the cheese without it drying out.

I turned Weber on and waited the mandatory 10 mins, it reached 330 temp in those 10 mins, turned them @ 3.5 mins and removed @ a further 3.5 mins.
They were cooked on the Grill plates
I only pick up lid to turn and remove the patties
They have remained very juicy

Re: Hamburger patties on the Baby 'Q'
Tonight I turned the Baby 'Q' on for 10 mins with the gas setting @ lowest possible setting and after 10 mins it was sitting on 270 c. and stayed there till I turned it to 'full on'
The temperature was then showing right off the gauge @ 340 c.
Note: this is according to the gauge on my Weber Baby 'Q'

Re: Hamburger patties on the Baby 'Q'
Second time for hamburger patties, made these myself at home, used normal minced beef, finely cut mushrooms, capsicum, onion and tomato flesh
They were really nice and moist as is shown in the photo
I was really happy with these patties
4 mins each side
