Pizza Party

Hey guys.

About 3 months ago, after researching to the nth degree for who knows how many months, I took the plunge and purchased a Pizza Party dual fuel oven from Italy. It is both wood fire and gas, conversion between the two is very straight forward. The oven is a portable one; when i say portable it's still around 55kg but not a permanent fixture. It's made primarily of stainless steel but with a brick veneer fascia and some very good biscotti (stones). The design has a chimney at the rear which is unusual but as long as the air flow is calculated correctly it can still work just as well (I used to be an aerodynamics engineer - I should really model it in CFD!).

Shipping was around 200 AUD IIRC and it arrived in less than a week, which exceeded my expectations.

If anyone has one, or is looking to purchase one, please feel free to ask any questions I'm more than happy to answer.

Luca

Thanks, do you have photos?
I still cook my pizzas on my gasser or Komodo Kamado (when I cook a couple)

Yeah that's right, that's the gas control knob.

Gas and wood fire. For the latter, the control box is connected to the burner which is removed as a single piece. A simple bracket inside the oven is all that is required to be disassembled for the burner removal. It's a simple 1 minute procedure.

I have it connected to the gas mostly so I can use it during the week since I rarely get home prior to 1800. With a heat up time of 20-30 minutes, it means I can get whip up a few pizzas within 45 minutes. Obviously wood fire is preferred for taste and the whole experience.

Without trying to be the "part-pooper", I am curious how one goes with an gas product imported from overseas and its compliance and certification to Australian standards?

Thats an interesting one I thought as long as the connections fit australian ones and you use a regualr 9 kg gas bottle withj australian regulator youre fine? Haha dont take this as legal advice!
Im pretty sure they get a lot more "testy" when you start importing them in bulk but single ones for personal use? I dont believe the law will be knoncking on your door anytime soon. Its obviosuly always best to be save and not to mod too much unless you know what youre doing.

Without appearing to spoil the party, I have just searched for different Australian States' gas technical regulators and it is stated at a number of different sites that any appliance connected to mains or lpg gas in Australia must be tested by the relevant authorities/companies and a compliance of certification must be attached.

The following page summarises the information. http://www.barbitec.com.au/importing-gas-barbeques

You make a great point and I was unaware of the specific certification for Australia. It was shipped with an Australian regulator but I could not find anything specific to Australian certification on the equipment. I will contact the appropriate Victorian authority and enquire further about compliance.

Cheers
