So here's the project that I'm looking for suggestions on...
The farmhouse has a purpose-built incinerator as part of the verandah:
It opens onto the outdoor cooking area (couple of gas BBQs, Bradley smoker, Gas Pizza oven, fridge, worksurface and sink) but it's not been used for its intended purpose in years
Dimensions:
1000mm deep x 920mm wide. Opening at the front is 720mm
I'm thinking that it's time that this became a wood fired oven.
Here's plan 'A"
Clean out the old fire pit and build a base up to the level of the bottom of the door (Blocks and pavers maybe?)
The build the oven on top of this, possibly using one of the kits or maybe a design from http://www.traditionaloven.com/
Does this seem reasonable?
I'm no builder so I feel a couple of cases of beer and a feed of Marron from the farm coming on.

Re: Incinerator conversion
Yes...that would be my suggestion too....i'd say fill in the bottom and either pave or concrete the area in line with the bottom lip.....looks like you'll get some awesome pizzas in there.
