Post by Meatfirewood »

Just thinking aboat wood , for us people in the southern states hardwood is available eg stumps mallee redgum and box,
does anybody think that bbq will get a regional taste or style in aust ? Id be keen to hear ideas about timber that might drive bbq in other states any ideas, also i have a theory that some of our wood will be as good as oak commonly used over the water .
Ok nuff rabble from me regards brenton

Not sure about the wood (smoke/chips) driving the flavours per state...
We have plenty pf paperbark (great to smoke with) in QLD??

Happy BBQ-ing, Paul

I have plenty of narrow leaf ironbark, I have collect some 75mm branches that have come down during storms etc, have cut them approx 100mm long and dried them and removed the bark, just need to bite the bullet and give them a try on a smoke up. Which reminds me I must get onto a couple of local FB pages andask if anyone has an apple tree plenty of little properties with fruit trees.
Cheers L
