I've built a fire pit out of kegs and looking to run a spit/rotisserie above it. Found these but are there any other options? I would be after the 60kg motor just to be sure; the intention is to put a 30kg pig on it, then add a leg of lamb and couple chickens for those who don't like pork. I don't really want to build a motor from scratch.

Heavy duty spit motor
I have two of their motors on my Cyprus spit. The small one which drives the skewers I like but the heavy duty 25kg one spins way too fast on 240v. I have to use my power controller with it... It's all really in the balance, you don't need a big one if you get it balanced properly but yeah better safe than sorry.
Mabey ask them what speed it spins at before you buy.

Re: Heavy duty spit motor
Thats good to know - I have what I think is called a voltage regulator that I use when distilling....uhm....water ......and it allows me to have fairly granular control over power output from a standard 3 pin connection. I guess I could use that if the motor is too fast - hoping thats just a glitch in manufacturing or something though as I spoke to them yesterday and no mention was made of the motors being too fast.

Mine are the 20kg flaming coals and the round 9kg
I've not timed it but big pieces really turn fast on the 20kg with 240v
On 12v it seems better.
