Which AU made BBQs in 2015 get towed 4000 KM to compete?

Post by Card Shark »

There are a lot more BBQ competitions going on here in 2015 than a couple of years back! Great for folks to come out and meet new like minded virgins and experienced hobby peers, network and talk Q. Our BBQ culture is definitely evolving. With it, the tools.

I’m always facinated to see what BBQ competition teams turn up wherever and what they have allocated to cook on for different meats. I’m a Kamado fan and love my SC offset equally but two new of note have been very successful with their product cooked on COMPETING lately. Both made in QLD = Radar Hill and BSG. At least two teams from Queensland are towing these BBQs 2000 km down and back to compete at the Creekside Comp in Vic next month. Some with more than one!

If you’re down that way, make the effort and swing by and take a look at everybody’s weaponry. Talk to their owners directly while using them! (Not before or during hand ins :) ).

Every excursion you learn something. My most interesting observation at the Burleigh comp was how much an insulated firebox on an offset reduces wood consumption on a commercial sized pit (BVLD) owning one of similar size. CS
