My chicken disaster

Post by damianpyro » Thu Jul 30, 2015 9:31 pm

Tried to cook a chook according to the profile from the urban griller.

160 c til 68 c
129 c til 78 c.

After 90 minutes the internal was only 43c, and the kids had to be fed, so turned up to 180c.

After another 30 min The davey crockett thermometer said 78c, but when I got it inside the maverick said 58 c.

Tried cutting the thigh off and it was still clucking, so into the domestic oven.

Final product had very dry and overcooked legs, the breast was OK -ish.

I used the grill mates meditteranean chicken rub, which was the best part.

Sounds like a dodgy probe. Also, I'd check that the chook wasn't in a part of the fridge where it got accidentally frozen, because the breast should normally overcook before the legs.
