Pizza on the Weber Q

Did this tonight for the first time. Love my Weber Q :)

You pizza looks good.

I keep forgetting to take pictures. I will take some pictures of today's pizza cook-up on the Family Q and upload them.

Why the rack under the pizza stone ??? why not direct onto the grill plate :?:

I'm guessing, if the stone was on the grill plate you'd restrict the hot air flow, the base would probably burn and the toppings wouldn't get hot enough to cook fast.

Yep, that's why I do it. However good pizzas require thin bases. Thicker still can be tricky to get perfect.

On my 320 I raise the stone up another 4 inches on some small cans.
Gets the toppings up into even hotter air.

We got the Weber Pizza stone for out Q220 today, can't wait to try it out soon!

I gave this a crack today for the first time. It was a simple process. Make the pizzas on baking paper and then get everyone to throw on what they want. I had all the family over for lunch, kids, adults, heaps of people. It was a hit.

Put on a stand of some sort, then the trivit and then the generic cheap pizza stone. Raising the stone higher inside the Q.

Preheat the Q, bringing up the temp slowly so it doesn't crack the stone but final temp as hot as she can go. I got about 270C today.

Pizza on the baking paper, placed it on the stone and left it for about 4 minutes. Came back and removed the baking paper.

Cooked it for about an additional 10 minutes? Not sure I just kept an eye on it.

Bloody ripper. I'll be doing this again for sure.

nice looking pizza for your first try.
I have used all sorts of pizza stones in the Q.
Have always cranked up the heat to 11 from scratch, otherwise it takes forever to get the stones fully hot.
Have done many hundreds of pizzas on the Q's and never had a stone crack. Maybe possible in some other types of BBq's, but i don't think you
will have that problem in the Q's

Just out of curiousity, what model Q(s) do you use for pizza?

Thanks Meat and Eat, I wasn't sure if I was being over protective by heating it up slowly. I'll not waste the gas next time and just get stuck in.

Sosman, I'm using the 320, or 'family Q'.

Hey sosman,
I use both the baby Q and the 320.

Infact, we cooked several pizzas on the 320 tonight.
They were a clones of the old pizza hut peperoni deep dish pizzas.
Just as good as!
