How do you keep the Weber Q lid clean on the outside?
How do you keep the Weber Q lid clean on the outside?
Any hints on how to keep the Weber Q lid outside clean?
Should I waste my time trying?
I'm not too worried about the inside of the lid.

Re: How do you keep the Weber Q lid clean on the outside?
what is making the outside of the lid needing to be cleaned
On mine it's just the BBQ smoke stain and that cleans off with dish-washing liquid

I have been cooking lamb chops and where the smoke etc escapes around the edges is going a brown colour from the stain.Mainey . . . wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2017 10:23 am

It sounds like if I want it clean and pretty, it is good old fashion soap and water and elbow grease.
Hmm, maybe I should have spent the extra money and bought the one with the black lid.

Good thought (not)
It would look clean but it would be filthy after a while because you would not see the filth that accumulates there
At least if you see it - you will clean it

Re: How do you keep the Weber Q lid clean on the outside?
Good points Mainey.
My old 4 burner was black and you would wipe it down with soap and water to keep it clean and it was pretty low maintenance to keep it looking good. Even at the end after 12 years of use the lid was in top condition.
My Q is starting to look well used, which may not be a bad thing.
I guess it shouldn't be so good at good at cooking chops, sausages etc and try to discourage me from using it Even use it lots during winter.

Just one thing never to do which i found out the hard way with my original little Q120 a few years back now
NEVER USE A HIGH PRESSURE WATER BLASTER......it peeled the paint right off
I just give the Q320 a wash from time to time using dishwashing liquid but mostly don't worry anymore...there's nothing you can do about it apart from buying a replacement lid.
It's just the nature of the beast
Cheers

My baby Q
I gave up ages ago cleaning it, unless you are on to it regularly, fussing with the clean up... I really think the lid needs to be soaked overnight in dish wash liquid, then apply elbow grease
The worse thing is the fat dripping off the back lid hinges...

The Weber website has it listed at $14.95 rrp. BCF has the same price.12x7 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2017 3:41 pmThanks Geoff for the link.mymonaro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2017 12:05 pm Hello All,
