Using BBQ butaned cartridges with a flame torch

Post by OldNick »

SoI bought a flame torch mainly to sear off meat without cooking it much. It has a screw-in canister, that costs $10 and does not last long. Bunnies have BBQ canisters at about 4 for $3 or something ridiculous and they are the same capacity, However they are push in not screw in.

I have seen an adaptor from the BBQ canisters to the flame torch canisters. They are at right angles and from what I read the BBQ canisters have to be lying on their side to be used.On the BBQ canister is a warning that you must align the arrow on the can with some marker on the BBQ.

My worry is that if the BBQ canisters are designed to lie on their sides and I am being warned to align them right, this may well mean that they have a delivery system that requires the gas tube to be pointing dead upward and not into the liquid gas. This may not always be so if I am using it for a torch.

Anyone know how this would play out?

Thanks for any advice

I use a Hot Devil for my BBQ. When you get bored you can weed the garden as well!
