Weber Q Built in Unit

Post by Maltesefalcon »

Hi All,
I am in the process of building in a Weber Q built in unit and was wondering if anyone has recently done this and what level of heat they emit. I am looking at having a granite surround and was wondering if I should go for aluminium and glass (ie. Non combustable doors) of trying to go with a standard Mdf laminate door. I have been given two stories, 1/ that they emit no more heat than a regular BBQ and 2/ that they require everything to be non combustable. Just wondering if anyone has done this recently and what their experience shows.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
I have not had anything to do with a Weber Q but I did some years back make a built in surround for a 4 burner gasser we owned at the time. Long story short it didn't work properly in the surround due to lack of air flow would heat up super hot when on it trolley, but when place in a brick surround it was only half the heat...

Have you spoken to the Weber people about the requirements? If not, they might be able to help.
