Weber Q Smoker Box Set

Post by Jaeger »

Hi all,

Has anyone tried the new Weber Q Smoker Box Set?
https://www.weberbbq.com.au/weber-acces ... r-box-set/

The twin box design is novel; it looks like the smoke comes out a slot at the back - towards the food, which makes sense.
The lack of holes (vs. a generic smoker box) is "different" - but does it matter?

Cheers!

Very interesting. I havn't tried these but I've experimented with other boxes and tubes on the Q and didn't get the best results, a big problem seemed to be smoke just directly escaping straight out the side vents with much of it probably not even getting near the meats. With this design it looks like smoke would be directed straight onto the meats before it can escape and seems like it could work better, the fact it attacks from both sides like that though makes it seem like a bit of a brute force solution... I'm skeptical but at the price could be a bit of fun over the fire season.

Hi there, only new toy his forum and experimenting with BBQing in general. Always just a steak and sausage guy till I purchased a webber q. I got a hold of the smoker boxes and threw a pork loin in on Sunday with a set rub and waited with anticipation. End result was beautiful, u could definitely taste the Smokey flavour but was not overpowering. I never refilled but is possible if u want more. Came out better than I actually expected so yeah stoked! I would recommend and is something else u can add to your arsenal
Enjoy

They look well priced and well designed for a gas BBQ.

I have the A-maze-n tubes to add smoke.

They are good idea for a gas bbq to add some smoke flavour. Especially during the summer months when fire bans are frequent and you can't use your solid fuel bbqs.

People also use them for cold smoking eg cheese.

I place a wood chunk on the grill at each end of my Q & it works ok
Much better than soaked wood chips in a steel container on the Q
Like mentioned above, smoke will spew out of the end vents as expected, but the chunks do provide the goods
I have found that the meat being cooked wants to go straight on the grill from the fridge.... do not bring it up to room temp first. The colder meat seems to absorb the smoke better
