Gas BBQ you can smoke in and grill?

Post by nofx2704 »

Hi I have a Wiltshire Boss 4 burner, and just staring to play around with smoking with a smoker box and finding that i am getting a lot of smoke loss out the back as there is a very large gap. Wondering if anyone has managed to find a good gas powered BBQ that holds smoke well. I understand an upright smoker would be the best option but dont want two BBQs and having it be gas allows much better temp control.

Get an Amaze-N tube or tray.

You can cold smoke as well eg cheese etc.

Works in any gas bbq.

Yeah I have one of those tubes and used to use it in the weber Q. The tube itself is good, I found it burned a lot better than the boxes, but like OP the BBQ loses too much smoke and wouldn't really work its way around the meat properly. Really just ended up finding it all too half assed and built another mini WSM to do the smoked stuff properly here in the city. See what you reckon of this http://www.smokai.com/products/ssg-1100 I would have bought one if I'd continued down the gas road, just seemed like it might more easily be rigged to have the smoke flowing over the meat better.

Any particular reason you don't want a secondary BBQ?
