Why your next BBQ could cost $2200

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/barbecue-and- ... MTUwMjQ0Ng

"Tenants who create too much smoke when barbecuing their lamb chops or sausages on unit balconies could soon face fines of up to $2200 under proposed changes to strata laws."

Good thing I am now out of Strata.
Can see a point but suspect this will get abused by the whiners who are all about me.

I picked up a near new OTG from a guy in a unit in North Sydney where the body corporate banned all but electric BBQs on balconies, and issued him a $100 fine after he ignored their warning.

He was ropable that the idiot below could freely smoke cigarettes & dope on his balcony below, with the effects wafting up to his - making it unusable several times an hour, but a few harmless snags once a weeks cost him.

Thank god for suburbia and large blocks - my neighbours love it when I BBQ, and constantly comment how good it smells. A few "bribes" here & there keeps them more than happy.
And it's also about mutual respect - I don't complain about their dog always barking over the back fence, and I make sure I don't use the GMG or upright smoker when they have washing on the line.
Weber Kettle Fanatic....
Main go-to: Blue 57cm OTG
Fire restriction option: Black 57cm M/T butchered with a Weber gas conversion.
GMG DC for the lazy smoky cooks.

So I assume we will be getting the electric Weber Qs now? That's how they deal with it in other countries. Still sucks though. Whiney sods are just jealous of all that awesome smelling good they won't get to eat.

They were banned on balconies in Florida when i lived there. Not for smoke but as a fire risk. Not even one on property for the 300 residents in our building. Also banned on their beaches. Fireworks were fine though :D Hopefully we don't go that way here.
