As if I don't have enough BBqs but none will do the job I need and that is to take away in the caravan or just out for an overnight camping trip. I was initially going for a Weber Baby Q but then checked out the Ziegler and Brown portable and found that to be better for what I need. It's mainly the accessories which make it the better option. The fact that the lid folds all the way back helps save space too. I like the idea of the trivet system which makes it easy to turn it in to an outdoor cook top so we can use the wok and other pans etc. the way it all folds up and locks the grill in to place when in the bag is great too. I've seasoned it and cooked some burgers for lunch. Just can't wait to get out on the road and fire it up for breakfast by some river. That's my idea of heaven.

Yeah I know....and when the young guy at BBqs galore started to tell me about the Ziggy vs the Weber (they won't be stocking Webers anymore by the way) I rattled off the list of what I had and he went very quiet.

Well, that clip seems to show its quite versatile. I'm impressed. But I've also never had a gas Weber so I don't know if they have the same range and features.
Love how the sales rep went quiet when you mentioned your current arsenal of bbq's.

One thing, it's way hotter than the Weber and even turning the gas to full low it still increases in temp and was well over 200c, assuming the thermometer is roughly correct. My first impression is that the gas dial needs to get the flames down more, similar to what happens on a cook top on an indoor stove. There isn't much difference in low and full from what I can see. But in the other hand, it heats up faster. I'm happy with that and it sure sears fast.

Certainly looks very versatile esp. with trivet setup.
Might be a silly question but can you restrict gas flow from bottle for lower heat?

I tried that and it can be done but there's a very fine line between choking it down a bit and then turning it off completely. I shut it off twice trying to get it down, which eventually did work but i wouldn't want to be doing that all the time or on a windy day. I'm wondering if there's a commercially made inline gas regulator knob which could go in between the bottle and BBQ. Could be worth looking at.

I have a small lpg soldering torch which would do the job or a normal lpg regulator will do it, welding supply stores stock lpg regulators for oxy sets.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look around. I'm going off in the van in 2 weeks so will give it a try as is, then make the call and try your suggestion if it's too hot.

My family and i have just started camping. Earlier this week we took my Weber GoAnywhere and one of those ubiquitous portable twin burner cook tops on a two night camp and i was less than impressed with the cooktop setup. Boiling a kettle is fine but frying up some bacon and eggs was a fiddly trial.

I'm really tempted by this Ziggy portable setup. Does the trivet system work as well as advertised? If it does, surely it's the ultimate car camping option.

Spend another $40.00 and get a fully adjustable gas reg

We are taking it out for the first time on Wednesday. I can't see any reason the trivet system won't be as it should.

Just done a 3 month trip on the west coast and bought a Ziggy portable for the trip, cooked on it most nights.
For me it is a fantastic little travel bbq and does all it claims.
The trivet system works but at a cost, for the trivet system to work it needs to be a hot cooking bbq.
When not using the trivet system it cooks very hot and needs to be monitered constantly.
I think this bbq is more suited to experienced bbq cooks, once you master the heat its great.
Its not a set and leave bbq like the weber Qs.
It was one of the best new additions to our camping and if mine was stolen i'd buy another one tomorrow.
