Hi All,
I suspect I am about to open a can of worms, but here goes.
I know when you connect a BBQ to a bayonet fitting on your caravan, the BBQ must have a flame safe device, i.e. gas shuts off if BBQ extinguishes. We have a Zone caravan and had to get the BBQ to fit these requirements which let out the Ziggy and Weber Q (at the time)
The question is, does a BBQ that is connected to your house supply be it LPG or NG have to have the flame safe device or is it only RV's?
Like most Govt legislation or Australian Standards there will not be a clear answer.........
Cheers, Paul

Re: Connecting to house gas
Not ever owning a caravan and apart from a regulator, I'm not aware of a separate flame safe device but the fact that many caravan fridges work off 3 power sources (Gas, electricity and/ or battery) and that it's a place where people sleep/reside, it's possible that it could be required and I guess the only place you could find out is a caravan sales centre. If they don't know, I don't know who would.
Apart from that, the only safety devices on a BBQ are a control knob, regulator or the gas Cylinder tap.

Is a link to the new gas bottle fittings which will only let the gas out when connected to something ie if not fitted you can turn the gas valve and no gas will come out unlike the current ones.
