Re: Cleaning grills
This maybe nothing to do with the subject here, but .....
The 'coating' on my 'Q' hotplate (not the grill) appears to be coming off
It's not something I can prove even to myself, but I'm positive the coating which looks like 'teflon' is coming off.
Wondering if it is caused by temperature ??
Has anyone else had this scenario happen to their 'Q' plate (not grill)

Re: Cleaning grills
I had the same thing happen to the q hotplate, was about a 12cm patch. 5 years latter i can still see it, but still works the same. I think mine was cauced by cleaning it years agoMainey . . . wrote:This maybe nothing to do with the subject here, but .....

Re: Cleaning grills
I would be a bit worried to put them in the Kamado as I would wonder if the grill coating would fall off.
I'm even a bit cautious about even scrapping the grill too hard and just use a wet towel to clean just after I take the meat off while the grill is still hot.

Re: Cleaning grills
Cheers mate, I normally use a wire brush and a small screwdriver. But just looking for an easy way out.

Re: Cleaning grills
All done, took just over an hour, removed the burners, soaked the grills. Scraped the bowl out, gave it 20min on high run nice blue flame now.

Re: Cleaning grills
My gas grill is the Ziegler & Brown Triple Grill. I normally clean those grills by soaking in a tub of washing-up detergent with hot water (I leave it overnight). I then run it through a dishwasher cycle.
I can't imagine the Weber Q would be significantly different, but I don't know if they'll handle dishwashers differently.
