Looking for new wireless thermometer

Post by mrhvac »

Hi all

Looking for a new wireless thermometer and was looking for some recommendations. What should I stay away from. I was looking at iGrille2 or Maverick ET-735 or ET-736. Not sure where to find Maverick though and not sure if ET-736 is out yet. Cheers

a few to chose from here

I have the maverick 732, works perfectly.

there's lots of posts about the newer ones connecting to your
phone via bluetooth, but the range is terrible. If that's a problem
the maverick 733 might be the one to get.

I would hold off on getting a Maverick.

Thermoworks just released their new product which competes directly with the Maverick:

Initial reviews/comments seem positive:

I own a Maverick and have not had any issues with it, but its nice to have options.

Edit: Oh, i forgot to mention. The Thermoworks smoke will also be coming out with some sort of wifi attachment in 2017. Apparently it hooks up to your router to allow remote monitoring on a phone app via internet.

Cheers mate. How do you think the Thermoworks Smoke compares with Maverick ET-735. Which would you buy. Cheers

I currently own the Maverick 733 and to be honest i think its pretty good. Never had any issues with it.
I probably wouldn't get the 735 as it is Bluetooth and from what Ive read the range can be quite shit on it.

Do i need another wireless thermometer? Probably not. But if my maverick ever breaks down or i feel like treating myself i would definitely consider the Thermoworks smoke.

Is there something wrong with the Weber wireless thermostat ? ? ?

I use a Weber #6741 Wireless thermometer with two probes standard.

It can be programmed for two different temperatures, 0R it can use the recommended temperature settings you set into the unit.

The Weber® Dual Probe, Remote, Digital Meat Thermometer beeps to let you know when your roast is cooked to your liking.
It doesn’t need to be near the barbecue as you can carry it on your belt, or leave it somewhere handy as it tells you when your food is cooked as you love it.

Just a question as I have not seen the other units mentioned

it's a very different world where you can smell but can't see what's happening with your food
