Where to buy weber charcoal baskets.
Where to buy weber charcoal baskets.
I've tried looking on ebay, gumtree and BBQ galore but can't seem to find any charcoal baskets for sale for the weber kettles.
Are these only ever sold with the kettle itself?
I would like to grab two so I can more specifically locate the beads in my kettle.
Where do I find these?

Re: Where to buy weber charcoal baskets.
Ha, you know it never occurred to me to check the weber website.
Looks like a great range, and some accessories there I would love. Though I see the 47cm gets ignored a fair bit unfortunately.
I really need to get one of those 57's. Even the charcoal baskets are only for the 57cm size. Could use those though I am sure.

Yeah, they sort of fit ok.
As someone suggested in your other thread just keep an eye out, Gumtree, hard rubbish, guarantee a 57cm will turn up for $0 to maybe $100
I try not to look at all the accessories, especially being currently self-employed in a very big downturn industry but they are hard to ignore
Cheers

Before you go shelling out didn't someone, might have been UG, point out a while ago that Ikea do SS cutlery drainers that are perfectly ok as charcoal baskets?
I could well be wrong but in the end, it's just a basket

Hold off until you find a 57cm. About 50% of the ones I've bought have come with the baskets, and you may get lucky.
Others have come with rails (which pre-date the baskets) and these can also be used to build the fire how you like it (just not as flexible as a basket that you can move around).

I think I'll head out tomorrow and look for some stainless steel colander or something and use that until I can get some baskets.
I'll keep an eye out for a 57cm weber closer to me. There is a couple down Campbeltown way at the moment, haven't checked if they have baskets but it's too far to make the trip worthwhile.

This nice old redhead has photos that show the baskets in it.

He's asking $100, but I reckon most people would take $75-80.
Just be careful not to end up buying a compact like this one:

They are quite a lot shorter from top to bottom, and the food grille is almost level with the top of the lower section.
This is good for grilling direct, but not so good for lid-on cooking of larger items, nor longer cooks.
I've been there & done that. It's now moved on to a better place....

Re: Where to buy weber charcoal baskets.
Thanks for all the advice guys.
I'm going to be getting the Char Griller Deluxe, lining that up for fathers day, and have my sights on a 57cm weber that I have agreed to buy and will collect it Wednesday.
Just 1 question, has anybody been able to fit a 57cm weber in to the boot of a BA falcon?

Re: Where to buy weber charcoal baskets.
Side to side is no dramas there was plenty of room for the 47cm. The issue was more with closing the boot due to the handles and legs.
I'll take my trailer down to pick it up and squeeze it in the boot if I can, otherwise you might see a weber on the back of a trailer snaking it's way through Sydney on Wednesday.

I have an FG G6, on injected gas, with the flat floor, and I've brought home over a dozen kettles in it.
At Easter I found with careful packing (nesting them into each other) I can fit 2x 57cm kettles (legs removed) the roti ring, and buckets of charcoal into the boot.
I even brought home a OTG without removing the ash pan holder - put it upside down, and the ring cleared the boot.
The FG boot is almost identical inside in size & shape to the BA (except you'll have the deeper well section for the spare).
Take an old sheet with you to protect the floor. Put the grilles into the RH corner behind the seat, and sit the lid over the top.
Pull the legs off the base, and sit it in the LH corner offset from the lid, and jam something soft between them to stop any contact.
You'll have tons of space left over.
