Weber Q Fry Pan
Weber Q Fry Pan
I thinking of getting one of these . Has anyone tried one yet?
I like the idea of a detachable handle and would be handy for onions and other small sides instead of putting the hot plate on

Purchased one few weeks ago .... works great. You have to really let it heat up for good results, but the many different uses for it outweigh that ... also really easy to clean.
I find your lack of smoke disturbing.

Ok I'm sold DARTHSMOKER, would it be suitable for use on a kettle as well?

I bought mine from a Disposal store it has a screw on handle I think I paid about $12.00.
And that does a perfect job.
Another place to hunt is the Opp shop be about $2-3 there if that.

I'm with you Keith, I've got a cast iron pan with screw in handle (which I've never fitted!)...cost me 12 bucks, I use it for everything, even works as a deflector in the Kamado!

Re: Weber Q Fry Pan
I have a bunch of family who constantly run out of ideas for what to get me as a gift and that's right in the range they want to expend so noted.
(Of course it just means I need to find what to buy them when the turn comes around, no, they do not BBQ, but they do bake, been mining that lode )
Cheers

Haven't tried it on kettle yet. Thought I heard, possibly after a beer or two, that it's not wise to use Teflon stuff on your kettle? Or is that an old wives tale?Hogsy wrote:Ok I'm sold DARTHSMOKER, would it be suitable for use on a kettle as well?

I use a cast iron one piece fry pan.
Like the ones you get for cooking on the camp fire.

Same here - and you can pick them up by the handle if you're wearing welding gloves (otherwise a wet rag works fine too).
Aldi had small cast iron skillets on sale back in summer. Cheap, and work well in my kettle for onions, sliced mushrooms, bacon, eggs etc.

I asked weber CS about it and they confirmed that it's fine for use in a kettle as long as the handle is removed

Hmm,
There are actually two sizes, but only ten bucks price diff.
Seems a bit odd, the local specialist has the small ones in now and expecting large for the weekend, think I'll go look but really trying to understand what the rationale for that is.
I mean, most of the time I'm cooking for two, so either would work but surely you'd buy the bigger to do more ?
Crazy marketing dept. I suppose definitely get their pharmaceuticals from advertising
