No problem from what I can see. I used one like that on my Weber kettle for a long time. Not anywhere near as good as a Maverick but OK. Just remember the temp at the top is different from the temp on the grill, and can be around 20 degrees (F)

I'm assuming you are putting it up on the top vent.

Ah, sorry. But then you'd need one with a threaded rod so it bolts on, not one which just sits there. Why are you replacing it ?

Not one of their bbq threaded types. They require a 7/8" hole so you'd be having to drill that in the dome...

Did you buy it from Chris? He might be able to help.

Just ask them about the size of the hole, can't see from the pics

I've tried that one and the thread does not go through the hole.

I'd use the first one with the clip, you know that will work, the stem seems a bit long though!

If I get a chance, I'll measure mine.

That's the problem with the first one, the stem will hit the food and it needs to be threaded. It shouldn't be hard to get a rat tail file and make the hole bigger.

So, I worked this out, the Smoke King one will (carefully) screw in taking a hairs breadth of the ceramic off, so that says its the 3/8 thread you want.

This one:

2 inch dial, 2.5 inch stem, 1/4 inch thread

It is a part, so I can get you one from Saffire. Mine just froze one day, so I'm looking at getting some higher quality replacements with dual temperature (I like to read in C.....F does my head in!).....most of them have 1/2 inch threads, so still searching!
