Perth Cape Grim brisket group buy

Post by burb »

Hi all,

For those interested, wholesaler here in WA (thanks for the hookup UG) has Cape Grim brisket in stock.

Min order of 1 carton.
5 pcs to a carton.
Roughly 18kg per carton (don't sound like they're very big - no idea if this is standard size for Cape Grim).
$14 per kg.

I'm down for one piece. If four other forum members are keen I'm happy to pay for and collect carton from Welshpool. I'll weigh each brisket to make sure price point is relatively accurate and I'll flick you my details for direct deposit. I'm guessing if there's a big size discrepancy between briskets it'll be first in best dressed by way of replies to this thread.

If you're keen, reply with suburb you live or work (whatever would be more convenient for a drop off - think fridge space if it's work) and we'll work out logistics around what I can deliver (I do get out and about for work) or if you need to pick up.

Cheers.

Had a look at a similar thing here in SE QLD. Found Superbutcher already has an annual $50 discount card that knocks off 10% on Cape (similar numbers) and everything else if you cook a bit or somebody plans a bulk buy. They also generously sponsor community competition events and local competing teams.

I'm keen on 1 piece.
That works out to about a 3.8kg brisket.
I've had a cape grim before from UG just can't remember what size they were now

:)

At the risk of starting war with SWMBO who is not a red meat person I'll happily go a piece, much prefer the smallest one :)

Nath and I are same general vicinity so we can sort that one out.

Very intrigued by this beef and the forum reports.

Will depend what other WA members see the thread I guess.

I'm Heathridge, Nath is I think Joondalup, there are a couple of other members up here not sure if they will see the thread.

It would be good to get an idea of the size of the pieces, armed with that I could probably get another one spoken for :)

Hi Burb, We're in Rockingham so a fair way from you lot. If you have enough locals to split the box, good but if you need numbers we'll take one to help out.

I'm in Balga, work in Osborne Park. Can travel a bit to pick up if need be.
I'm sure when I got an order from the UG some time ago they were more like 4.5-5kg. They were Ox size I guess. These seem a bit smaller but that's cool. I can drop Chris g his or vice versa.
Do can the wholesaler get any other cuts?
Who's the wholesaler?

One of the mates will go one as well so you can put me down for two. I'd be up for to ribs again too if they are available. Like Nath says, the last ones we got through Chris were ox and pretty big from memory.

Cheers, Wayne

Make sure you ask for OX, even then some can be smaller 3.5 to 5kg normally....you buy by the box, so it could have 4 or 6 in it.....that's an issue when you have 6 or 7 ordered.....you need 2 boxes and there might be some spare.

Beef ribs are more reliable (and a better feed).
