Banana leaf

Post by niko123456 »

It occurred to me today that I've got a banana plant with some really healthy looking, large green leaves.

Does anyone have a resource or tips on cooking with banana leaf?

I'm trying to decide if the leaf helps fish steam over a lower temperature, or if the leaf is used to protect delicate flesh from high charcoal heat.

Also, not just fish right? Islanders use banana leaves for meat?

P.s. A good tip when using banana leaf to wrap up things. Run them over an open flame briefly until they go shiny. They become much more malleable and won't break when wrapping.
