Perth Brisket

Post by Nath »

Found these briskets the other day at Farmer jacks in girrawheen.

This Farmer jacks is run by Vietnamese, lots of viet shops also on the area.

Anyone tried this before?
Cape Naturalist beef, worth a shot at that price?

They seemed to be whole brisket with flat and point. Though the point seemed quite small? I know nothing of brisket and couldn't really see through the black cryovac :(

:)

Cryovac is always a bit of pain like that Nath :)

I wouldn't say I'm an expert around brisket either - bit big for me to consider for anything but a dinner party and none planned. For smaller ones if you don't know them the butcher in Woodvale shopping centre is good for brisket and just of late the meat selection at Farmer Jack's Ocean Reef has been damned good :)

I can tell by feeling it but that's no help to you.

I'd definitely try one at that price.
Nice beef area.
What could go wrong except some delicious not exactly what you wanted meat?

Defiantly a full packer , I'd pick that up for sure.
I'd only be concerned if it's Brahman. But even if it is, The way you'll be cooking it It'll still be good.

There's no Brahman in the southwest at all.

Awesome! Well I might have to pick one up tomorrow!
at that size I would assume full packer, will pick one up and see how it goes.
Not a major fan of brisket, I find it tends to dry our as soon as cut.

That is $3.10US/lb....better price then I can get here. I can guarantee you it would not be "all natural"...

No you can't Bentley

Enhanced meats are not common here like in The USA.
We have a fundamentally different approach, our industrial meat raising is tiny compared to the USA where it is the majority.
Our beef walk around in fields and eat grass mostly.
Our pig's aren't born , raised and slaughtered all on concrete, but they root around mostly.
Like Aussies

I'd be shocked if Cape Naturalist beef was not natural.
Report back, whoever gets one!

Buc, there is plenty of "All Natural" meats in the US, they are everywhere. Pasture raised, grass fed. Same with Hogs and Chicken. It is the price issue, some are willing to pay for that. It is usually double the price. So the fact that this Australian meat is raised that way is not unique, but the price for at least this "All Natural" is!

Almost all the Beef in WA is finished on Grain, just a product of the grass growing season...

Bentley, the price is influenced by local issues, supply and demand.
This cut is known and sought after in The USA, but not here.
You guys had a ferocious winter and feed is low so expensive.
Added pressure from your pig issue currently, price inflated puts more pressure on beef prices there.

This is one of the few sweet deals we get here.
