Perth Brisket

Post by Nath »

Do you lads think it would freeze ok? I want to pick one up but probably wouldn't have time or the need to cook one for a month or so.

They freeze good!

The demand issue I did not take into consideration. Even though a lesser cut even here, it is becoming more popular due to all the BBQ TV! And feed prices, man don't get me started...subsidizing corn farmers so it can be used for ethanol instead of feed or oil...I better stop...Renewable Fuel Standard, government Idiots!

:)

I was there today and they said they had some, not that I was there for brisket, but apparently they may have temporarily sold out.

Beef prices in Australia are somewhat decoupled from the real value Bentley, I don't take much notice any more but I did when in the Pastoral industry in the Northern Territory in the seventies.

Back then a combination of falling local demand and a drought left farmers looking at 20c a kilo on the hoof, but higher, often impossible challenges to keeping them alive.

My company were flying live cattle out of Darwin to Brunei for the hot meat market, economic to do at those prices. Not exactly luxury travel - gave a whole new meaning to cattle class being on board a DC8-Super 61 full of sometimes restless bovines for the few hours of the flight :)

Could tell a few tales :)

No, not on a station Bucc, worked for Dalgety back then, we handled the shipments via the shipping division. I ran travel for them up there.

Sorry to bump an old thread, Cape Naturaliste Beef is a Harvey Beef product, in case anyone was interested.

Cool, thanks Hamish. I've cooked two of these now and they are pretty good for the price!

The one in girraween has them off and on. The last time I went there it wasn't the cape naturalist ones though, and the points were very small :(
